Study sketches

Here are some recent study sketches for a client.
This first sketch is of a very small entry into a mother-inlaw apartment. There is no room for closet as you walk directly into the living room. I designed a small roof over the entry door to give some protection during bad weather. There’s a bench to the left of the door with open storage below with baskets. Across from the bench is place for shoes and coat hooks.very small entry

Here is a ‘before’ photo of a pair of french doors that provide access to the daughter’s house and will be closed off. This is the one good wall for built-ins and the client wanted a flat screen tv, bookcases and a fireplace. The entry door from the sketch above in the left of this photo.

Here’s what I am proposing; A flat screen tv over the gas fireplace. Flanking bookcases with lower cabinets for storage. Shoe storage and coat hooks on wall at left correspond with sketch above.

This is a photo of the existing kitchen wall. The wall is being moved toward the backyard 42″ to align with another portion of the structure. This additional square footage allows for built-in and breakfast table seating.

I wanted to get as much light into the kitchen as possible and chose to run the transom windows across the width of the roof. What is not shown in this sketch is the breakfast table in front of the window seat. This wall of cabinets provides a lot of additional storage.
